Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly made a bold decision in his attempt to keep hold of Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after his side’s failures to secure Champions League football next season.
Though Real Madrid are said to be the most interested party, there’s belief Barcelona are also keen on the midfielder’s signature.
United have a lot of work on their hands to keep a hold of Pogba but Solskjaer is hatching a plan to do just that.
For the Norwegian to succeed at the club he will need to convince one of his star players to stay and buy into his project.
According to ESPN, Ole is hoping offering Paul the captaincy will be enough to convince him to ignore Real Madrid’s interest and remain at the club.
Jose Mourinho had given then stripped the former Juventus man of the captaincy with many sections of supporters agreeing he’s not fit to lead this current crop of players.
There’s a feeling amongst fans that Pogba is too inconsistent and drifts in and out of matches too often to be considered captain material.
So far Solskjaer hasn’t captained the academy product, opting to give the armband to the likes of David de Gea or Ashley Young instead but next season could be a different prospect.
