Chelsea loan trio set for first-team opportunity next season

It has been reported that Maurizio Sarri is planning to give some of the returning loanees a chance at first-team football after the Italian admitted that two or three players were under contention to play.

With a transfer ban potentially disabling Chelsea’s ability to sign any players, Sarri has admitted that a few of those returning to their parent club may be in with a chance of some senior football with the Blues.

According to the Evening Standard, those players have been identified as Tammy Abraham, Kurt Zouma and Ola Aina, who are said to be the leading players who have a chance of being part of Sarri’s plans for the 2019/20 season.

Abraham has been a standout player in the Championship this season on loan to Aston Villa and has scored 26 goals for the side. He is set to play in the play-off final against either Leeds United or Derby County after his penalty kick sent Villa through to the final.

The 21-year-old is reportedly being chased by a number of clubs including Wolves, Everton, and RB Leipzig. Villa are also interested in keeping the striker on a permanent basis – however, Abraham is reportedly keen on a Stamford Bridge return.

Kurt Zouma is another player that has impressed during his time out on loan at Everton. The central defender has made 29 appearances in the league and with Chelsea needing a replacement for Gary Cahill, who will see his contract expires in the summer, Zouma looks like the man to fill his boots.

Playing for Torino in the Serie A, Aina has enjoyed a season full of first-team minutes with 28 appearances for the Italian club.

Should the transfer ban remain, these additions will be vital for next season with the Blues securing Champions League football, their squad depth is something that will need to be addressed.
