Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has insisted that Arsenal’s transfer business “is going well” ahead of the Europa League exit (via Arsenal.com).
The summer transfer window is now open but the business has been conducted for a number of months behind closed doors.
In an interview with the official Arsenal website, the club’s head of football has admitted as much and said that the club’s negotiations are going well.
“Discretion is very important. If I say I need this position then I am already opening the market,” Raul Sanllehi told Arsenal.com.
“What I can say is I have identified – very clearly and very unanimously with our head coach and technical people – we know what we want to prioritise.
“We are already in the market. We are already talking to the people who can help us cover those positions.
“It’s going well. The image that Arsenal has in the football world is very strong. We are a top world club and we need to go where we belong – the Champions League. Many players want us to be there when we are talking to them.
“I do believe we have a very good plan to cover those positions and to be much stronger next year to deliver the success we are hoping for.”
So, it seems as if the result of next week’s Europa League final will affect which players the club can sign. We can’t expect much movement until after the match but it appears as if the signs are good so far.
