Roy Hodgson speaks out about Man United interest in Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has denied any bids for Aaron Wan-Bissaka has come in amid reported interest from Manchester United.

The youngster has emerged as a serious candidate for the right-back spot after rumours surfaced of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s desire to invest in that position.

Antonio Valencia is expected to depart when his contract ends this summer while Matteo Darmian has wished for a return to Italy for a few transfer windows now.

Hodgson though has repeatedly denied Wan-Bissaka is for sale but did admit every player has a price, suggesting United will have to bid big to prize him away.

Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot would be the only right-backs left at the club if the above does happen and the former’s future isn’t. guaranteed either.

According to Manchester Evening News, Roy said: “I don’t believe that an offer has been made and I think this is still speculation.

“I can’t say that I am surprised [about reported interest], I think he is playing so well and he has an incredible future in front of him.

“But he has a four-year contract with us and when we asked him to sign that, we were asking him to be a Crystal Palace player during that time.

“And I’ve not seen anything in his performances, or heard anything that causes me to change my mind or have any doubts that he is going to be our player.

“But if that speculation comes to pass and an offer comes to the table, then it will be up to the club to make a decision I suppose.

“But at the moment, I don’t have any concerns in that respect.”

Young’s future has been speculated less but there’s still a belief Solskjaer plans to have Dalot and Aaron battling it out for the right-back spot.

Perhaps the Norwegian sees the former Watford man as a back-up option to Luke Shaw on the left but for now he is the first-choice on the right flank.

Diogo has also been frequently used as a right-winger so perhaps Ole plans on using him there permanently although so far he’s had to do so out of necessity.
