Manchester United are reportedly planning on reshuffling their backroom staff in an effort to spark an era of success under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leadership.
The Norwegian was handed the reigns permanently after impressing in his caretaker role but his current staff haven’t had their futures cleared just yet.
Mike Phelan has essentially been the club legend’s right hand man while the likes of Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna have played their roles too as first-team coaches.
When Solskjaer was rightfully receiving praise for United’s revival, he ensured his backroom staff received recognition as well.
Fans are keen to hold onto staff who know just what their club is all about and so have been enquiring particularly over the futures of Phelan and Michael.
According to the Daily Mail, Mike will become the Red Devils’ first ever technical director with Carrick being promoted to the role of assistant manager in a bid to help Ole in his efforts to return the club to the top of world football.
There has been confusion over just what Phelan’s role means and whether a technical director and director of football are the same thing.
The belief is that the professional names are all different on a club to club basis but that he would be given the responsibility of recruitment.
