Ole Gunnar Solskjaer apologised to Manchester United supporters after they saw their team hammered 4-0 by Everton in the Premier League.
The visitors, who have now lost six games from eight, produced one of the worst performances seen in the post-Ferguson era.
Everton started quicker and with more purpose, racing into a 2-0 lead at the break. Man United, managing just one shot on target all game, were just as awful after half-time and duly conceded another pair of goals.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer was nothing short of speechless following a performance devoid of ambition or skill.
Ole: "From the first whistle everything went wrong. I just want to apologise to the fans. They’re the only people with the badge on today who can hold their head high, because we can’t.” #mufc [Sky]

Ole: “We just didn’t perform. That was not worthy of a Manchester United team. We hold our hands up and apologise to everyone associated with the club. We have a perfect chance to make amends on Wednesday." #mufc [Sky]

Jose Mourinho was right to turn on this group of players. He may have negotiated the situation poorly, but the basic premise behind his ire was correct: that most of these players lack the mental and technical clout to play for a club of this standard.
One red who was at the Goodison Park summed it up perfectly at half-time. “This lot don’t f***ing want it.”
Forget tactics. Forget top four concerns. Forget the manager and even forget the incompetent board. Put simply, too many of this squad have a pathetic mindset – one which the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool would never allow to exist.
Money needs to be spent in the summer. More importantly, though, there must be a culture change throughout that dressing room.
