Rio Ferdinand has called on Manchester United to launch a fully-fledged campaign to sign Borussia Dortmund and England starlet Jadon Sancho this summer.
The teenager, former member of Manchester City’s murky academy backwaters, has exploded onto the world scene with Dortmund this season, registering eight goals and 12 assists in 26 appearances.
Reports have claimed Man United view Sancho as their primary target ahead of the summer transfer window, and believe a bid of around £80m would convince Dortmund to sell.
Speaking earlier this week, Ferdinand backed the idea of bringing the world’s most exciting teenage prospect to Old Trafford.
Ferdinand: “Sancho? I would take him (at United) all day. English, young, hungry and talented, that’s all I need to know. He has got the mentality. The mentality is a big part of it all, whether he has the physical attributes or not.” #mufc [Goal]

United have more important areas to bolster in the summer: a new central defender, another full-back and also a central midfielder must be the focus, with Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia set to leave this summer and Marouane Fellaini already gone.
That being said, there is no United supporter out there who doesn’t salivate at the prospect of an attacking force comprising Sancho, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku. He would be the perfect replacement for Juan Mata, whose days at Old Trafford feel numbered.
Whether or not the club can logistically pull of such a move, on top of reinforcing other key positions, remains to be seen.
