Alex Iwobi has revealed how additional analysis has helped the Arsenal attacker improve on the pitch this season (via Arsenal.com).
It was always going to be fascinating to see which Arsenal players coped with the appointment of Unai Emery as head coach.
Emery’s methods are known to be very different to the ones employed by former manager Arsene Wenger with a greater emphasis on data analysis.
One player who has certainly coped well with the change is Alex Iwobi and now, the Nigerian international has spoken about his improving form.
“This season I feel much better and I feel like I’m in control, especially going forward in an attacking sense,” Iwobi told Arsenal Player.
“I have an analyst now who is always trying to help me, which I didn’t have in seasons before, so he’s sending me clips and saying what I can do better.
“That’s helped me and I’d like to say I’ve been involved in a few goals this season, even it’s not the assist or the goal, I’ve been getting a few pre-assists which go unnoticed.
“I would say each day I’m still growing and still learning, but negatives, obviously they’re always going to criticise me for my goals and assists, which I need to add to my game if I want to be compared with the people I’m playing with.”
Alex Iwobi has certainly improved this season. The Nigerian international is becoming an important player in the squad but is still struggling to hold down a first-team spot. Much of that stems from the fact he plays a similar position to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but hopefully, that is something which Unai Emery can work around.
