Antonio Rudiger has backed Gonzalo Higuain to succeed at Stamford Bridge following his loan move from Juventus in January.
The striker joined Chelsea after a mixed spell on loan with AC Milan in the first half of the season, as the Blues searched for a clinical striker given Alvaro Morata’s lack of form in a Chelsea shirt.
Higuain was said to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge in order to reunite with his former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, and Rudiger believes the Argentine can be a success at Chelsea as long as he’s given the service to do so.
Speaking to the clubs official website ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City, Rudiger said
Everyone knows Gonzalo is a goalscorer. You have to adapt to things but he played in Spain and he played in Italy and he has always mainly played for big clubs and he knows the pressure.
Of course at the moment it is difficult for him because the team has been struggling but still he is for me a quality striker and if he gets the chance and he gets the service, he will be great for us.
Higuain scored his first two Chelsea goals in the Blues’ 5-0 win over Huddersfield earlier this month, and will be looking to add to that tally in Sunday’s final against City.
