Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he can’t understand why his side started the clash against Bournemouth so poorly.
The Portuguese manager has previously criticised his players’ lack of intensity and hunger in the opening moments of the match but it apparently didn’t work in terms of getting a response.
United conceded within 15 minutes after a spell of dominance from their opponents who arguably could’ve scored at least two more before the break.
Thankfully Anthony Martial equalised quite out of the blue but Mourinho is still baffled by his players’ poor starts.
The Red Devils were also slow to get going against Chelsea and Newcastle but luckily grabbed four points out of the possible six nonetheless.
Mourinho: “I can’t understand. My assistants in the warm up were saying it’s the best warm up of the season. Good focus and intensity. The week was a good week of work. I can’t believe how bad we started.” #mufc [BT]

It’s clear that whatever Jose sees in training is completely different to what fans witness on the pitch and it’s been reiterated by the players and coaches.
That must mean what causes the poor or slow starts has to do with nerves or a lack of confidence or even a lack of leadership.
The Manchester United players have shown they’re determined and hungry enough after coming back in the last three of their matches but must do so over the full length of a match instead.
