Granit Xhaka has revealed his intended next club after he leaves Arsenal (via Sport Witness).
He may not be moving anytime soon but the day will come when Granit Xhaka leaves Arsenal.
The Swiss midfielder joined the Gunners back in 2016 and has made over 100 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He’s still young at 26 but was asked if he would ever return to his former club and Swiss giants, FC Basel.
“Definitely,” he told the Swiss publication Basellandschaftliche Zeitung.
“My career started here and there it is a goal, actually, my dream to return someday. That certainly won’t be the case at 28, I’ll be honest. It’ll probably be more like Alex Frei, who’s the best example of how to do it.
“He came back once he was in his thirties, but still performed and helped FCB win a few titles. Of course, the expectations are high when you come back again, but it is clearly a dream.”
A lot of players elect to return to their hometown clubs at the end of their careers and it seems as if Granit Xhaka is no exception. Still, the Swiss international has a lot of playing time left before then.
