Inter Milan are open to the prospect of selling long-term Jose Mourinho target Ivan Perisic next summer, according to reports from Italy.
Mourinho hotly pursued the Croatian winger over the summer of 2017 but the two clubs failed to strike a deal.
The 55-year-old was notably disappointed with the board for failing to land such a key target, bemoaning the botched transfer over the World Cup.
“I wanted Ivan Perisic,” he said. “He went from Croatia to Borussia Dortmund, then to Wolfsburg, then to Inter. I do not know why he did not come to Manchester United, I wanted him.”
According to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Perisic remains one of manager Luciano Spalletti’s favourites but has failed to hit top form during a difficult start for Inter this season, rendering it possible that Inter would sell him.
Inter wanted to include Anthony Martial as part of any deal in 2017 – a prospect Man United balked at – and remain keen to include him in a swap move over the summer of 2019. The report states that Perisic, who signed a new contract at the San Siro two years ago, could be sold for around £35m. Mourinho will, no doubt, be on red alert.
