Young Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman has suffered a broken leg in an Under-23s game for loan side Leeds United.
The 25-year old was playing against Birmingham City on Friday afternoon, and suffered the injury in the closing stages of the game following a collision with Beryly Lubala.
Blackman left the field on a stretcher, with his right tibia the location of the injury.
And Leeds have since confirmed the extent of the issue, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, with Blackman having returned to Chelsea for rehabilitation.
On a more positive note, fellow Chelsea starlet also on loan at Leeds, Izzy Brown, made his comeback from injury against the Blues.
Brown signed for Leeds in the summer, despite being injured, having suffered from an incident in January while on loan with Brighton.
Brown’s deal with Leeds required the club to only pay his wages once he was fit and ready to return from rehab, and the 21-year old made his return against Birmingham, playing the opening 45 minutes
