Arsenal have reportedly approached Lille with the view of signing the pacy winger, Nicolas Pepe (via YouTube).
Anyone watching Arsenal in the last few months will have noticed that the Gunners are missing a speedy and direct right winger.
The Gunners are lacking pace and creativity down that right flank and have targeted players like Malcom and Ousmane Dembele in recent months.
However, both of those transfers appear unlikely and it seems as if Arsenal have set the wheels in motion for a deal which would be altogether more likely.
Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague has claimed that Arsenal have approached Ligue 1 side Lille over the transfer of Nicolas Pepe.
The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international has had an excellent start to the season, scoring eight goals in 13 Ligue 1 matches.
Balague was one of the first journalists to reveal the recent moves for Unai Emery and Lucas Torreira and it seems as if he has a direct line from the club.
This could be an interesting transfer for Arsenal. The Gunners are in need of some offensive reinforcement following the injury to Danny Welbeck and Nicolas Pepe would provide just that. Balgue claimed that the winger will cost as much as €50 million which may be too much for the club in the January window.
