Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in making a move to sign Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, reports Duncan Castles in the Daily Record.
Bailly has fallen out of favour this season under Jose Mourinho after a collection of individual errors in Man United’s first few matches of the Premier League and has struggled to regain a place in the team since.
Due to that, Castles suggests Bailly is unsettled and now unhappy at United but regardless of whether or not there is any truth to those rumours, it should come as no surprise to United fans that stories like this are starting to emerge.
At the start of his career, Bailly was brilliant. It had been some time since United fans had seen a defender of his quality at the club and it really looked like Mourinho had signed a potential star of the future. However, it hasn’t particularly been smooth sailing since.
Injuries have really hurt Bailly’s progress and whenever he is in the team now, he is a shadow of the player who was so dominant at centre-back last season. Instead, he’s a major hot-head and mistakes look inevitable more than anything else which is the exact opposite of what you want from a defender.
On a personal level, I’d be very surprised if Mourinho was to let Bailly leave the club ahead of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones but let’s see what happens over the next few months. In an ideal situation, Bailly re-finds his form and cements a partnership with Victor Lindelof that United fans are so desperate to see succeed.
