Manchester United have the opportunity to inject some much-needed positivity into their campaign by qualifying for the Champions League knockout phases on Tuesday night.
Three points against Swiss champions Young Boys, who Man United beat 3-0 in September, would guarantee a place in the knockouts provided Valencia fail to beat Juventus in Turin.
But Jose Mourinho will need to oversee a performance totally different in both style and end product compared with the nightmare that was the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace over the weekend.
With that in mind, here is how United could line up under the lights on Tuesday.
Once again, the primary fault behind United’s performance against Palace was its total lack of pace. The visitors were hardly pulled out of shape all game. It was, at times, quite easy for them.
This is why Mourinho, as he has done before, should move to a three-at-the-back system to encourage some more movement and better linkage between his players. The 4-3-3 system, played at home against a low block, went stale and led to nothing but frustration.
Replacing Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian with Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot, giving the latter pair more license to move forward, would surely create something better than whatever that was on Saturday.
