This is how Mourinho gets the best out of his players, reveals striker

Former-Inter Milan striker Diego Milito has insisted that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is able to get the best from his players at Old Trafford, despite recent criticism to the contrary.

The Argentinian played under Mourinho at the San Siro as the Portuguese coach guided the I Nerazzurri to a famous treble in 2010.

Many of Mourinho’s former players speak immensely positively of their time under the now 55-year-old. However, he has also had famous altercations with certain players at Real Madrid and Chelsea. Now at Man United, Mourinho has a frosty relationship with star midfielder Paul Pogba and a possibly a few others like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Milito, though, backed Mourinho as the man for United as he always gets the best out of his players.

“He’s the manager who says the right thing at the right time, who understands the moments, who manages to get any player to perform at 100%,” Milito told Corriere dello Sport.

“Not everyone can do that. Mourinho is one of the best in the world. No arguments there.”

Quite whether Milito has been watching United under Mourinho is unknown. It seems unlikely given his comments.

Mourinho clearly is not getting the best out of his players and whether that stems from an issue with him or poor attitude from them, it is still his failure to fix the problems on show.

Players like Alexis Sanchez and Pogba are certainly not performing at their very best, at least not on a consistent basis.

Certain moments have been superb, like the second half against Newcastle United in an epic 3-2 comeback recently, or the same in the Manchester derby back in April when United came from two goals behind again.

But the majority of games have been dull and inspiring.
