Ross Barkley singles out 'magnificent' Chelsea player for praise

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has lavished praise on Eden Hazard, lauding his teammate as “magnificent”, Sky Sports reports.

The England international was quick to hail Hazard’s qualities when quizzed on the Blues winger and spoke about how his displays are continuing to inspire Chelsea in their title bid.

He’s a magnificent player. You can see how he started the season and the World Cup that he had, you don’t get many players like him. He’s capable of magic at any moment and to hear the things that he’s said, it’s great for me to get to hear a player like that say so many great things about myself.

Barkley and Hazard were both in fine form in Chelsea’s most recent Premier League outing, as Maurizio Sarri’s men swept aside Southampton with a 3-0 win. The pair contributed with a goal each, with Alvaro Morata sealing the victory late on.

Blues midfielder Barkley also stressed the importance of Chelsea retaining Hazard’s services for years to come, amid claims that Real Madrid could secure the winger’s signature in the near future.

It’s important because he’s been at Chelsea for a long time. He’s achieved so much. But I can’t speak for Eden. He knows in his mind what he wants but I’d love to play with him for many more years.

Hazard is currently leading the way as Chelsea’s top goal scorer, having contributed with eight strikes and three assists in all competitions this season.

The 27-year-old will hope to continue in a similar vein of form after the international break, as Chelsea prepare for a blockbuster Premier League clash against Manchester United.
