Paul Pogba explains why he doesn't listen to critics

Paul Pogba has stressed that he does not lose sleep over what critics say about his performances at Manchester United.

The Frenchman has received unparalleled amounts of criticism for his performances since joining Man United for a then world record fee of £89m in August 2016.

There is, for some reason, a segment of pundits and punters who have developed the nasty tendency of blaming Pogba – not Jose Mourinho, not the United hierarchy, not the Glazers – for being the root of the club’s current problems.

Speaking in an interview whilst away on international duty with France, Pogba made it clear that the critics no longer bothered him.

Pogba: “I remain human like everyone else. The critics, I hear them since I was little. I do not listen to them anymore. They are people who do their job, I can never take that away from them and I have to be good on the pitch." #mufc [Le Figaro]

Pogba is not just United’s best outfield player but their talisman as well – the heartbeat through which the team plays every week. And because of that he becomes the focal point of each display, good or bad. Against Brighton and Hove Albion, for example, he was lambasted despite there being players who performed a lot worse. After the turnaround against Newcastle United he was righty viewed as the game changer.

He is not perfect, sure, but he is absolutely crucial. United fans have to realise that, without him, their team would be even further behind.
