Manchester United’s head of first-team development Nicky Butt has backed Mason Greenwood to turn into a superstar if he remains patient.
The young Englishman has impressed throughout the youth levels last season which saw him earn a spot in the first-team.
In pre-season, Greenwood continued to show what he can bring to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI and fans have quickly warmed up to him due to his talent.
United are short of attacking depth this season and so there’s never been a better time for the sensational striker to make his mark.
Greenwood’s versatility will certainly help him breakthrough to the starting XI with Solskjaer seemingly preferring to play him on the right-wing for now.
Nicky Butt: "I think Greenwood is going to be a real, real superstar if he keeps his feet on the ground, if he's patient and he scores the goals he can do. Both footed, he's a big strong powerful kid who can score goals – very confident." #mulive [sky]

Solskjaer clearly believes strongly in Greenwood as well so whatever he’s doing behind the scenes, he must continue to do so.
At just 17 years old, there’s plenty of time for him to develop into a superstar and so he must be nurtured as well as given space to make mistakes.
Manchester United don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past- the Adnan Januzaj‘s, the Danny Welbeck’s or the Tom Cleverley’s who were initially tipped for the top before eventually being moved on.
