Chelsea will face competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.
According to Spanish outlet AS, as cited on Calciomercato, the La Liga outfit are the latest team to express an interest in the player.
Piatek has been dubbed as the ‘next Robert Lewandowski’ after his goalscoring exploits in Serie A this season.
In his first six games in the Italian top flight, Piatek has found the back of the net eight times and his form has not gone unnoticed.
A host of clubs are now believed to be readying bids to sign the player during the January transfer window.
Atletico are said to be keen on snapping him up for next season but could look to move for the striker in January.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move, as Maurizio Sarri aims to increase his options in the final third.
Neither Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud have managed to impress on a regular basis during the opening weeks of the season.
