Mateo Kovacic says it is too early for him to start thinking about the possibility of joining Chelsea on a permanent basis.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard about his future, the Croatian was coy in his answers, with his long-term future at Real Madrid still up in the air.
It’s too early for these questions, I am here and very happy. [Playing regularly] is good, I’m a little bit tired. I was not used to playing every three or four games and here it is very tough football.
You can’t relax against anybody so it’s a little bit difficult but I really enjoy it. We have a great team, great fans and the city is nice. I like it a lot here.
Kovacic joined Chelsea in the summer on a season-long loan having fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu.
While he has found game time in Spain hard to come by, he remains highly thought of there, with many still believing he can be the long-term successor to Luka Modric.
The 24-year-old has impressed since joining the club on loan, battling with Ross Barkley for that third starting spot in Maurizio Sarri’s midfield.
Chelsea do not have an official option to buy the player at the end of the loan deal, but after a season on loan at the club, they will be hoping to be front of the queue if they were to pursue a deal.
