Maurizio Sarri has urged his team to improve defensively if they want to mount a serious title challenge this season.
Speaking after his side’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Cardiff at the weekend, as reported by the Telegraph, Sarri explained exactly what the Blues need to do to be in with a chance after Neil Warnock tipped them to push for the title.
I think he is right, because we are very dangerous in the defensive phase, and we need to improve there. But I think we can do it.
Chelsea’s early season form has seen them placed at the top of the Premier League table, winning their opening five games of the season.
The Italian’s main objective for his first season in London is to guide the club back into the top four, but talk of a title push is already mounting.
Sarri himself has played it down already, stating prior to the game against Cardiff that both Liverpool and Manchester City are the favourites for the league title this season.
