Pochettino assesses Man United win, admits Mourinho was right

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has assessed his side’s performance vs Manchester United and admitted Jose Mourinho was right.

The Argentine was discussing the London club’s 3-0 win at Old Trafford last week and believes they weren’t as good as people thought they were.

Mourinho had stated Spurs were clinical and took their chances but that his own side’s performance didn’t merit such a heavy loss at home.

The Portuguese manager believed United had played well and simply didn’t take their chances along with making silly defensive errors.

Pochettino seems to agree with Jose and has called on his side to show more improvement in order to become title challengers.

According to Calcio Mercato, Mauricio said to Sky Sports: “Our performance wasn’t great like the perception was, that’s why it’s important to assess, and our responsibility as coaches is to show the players and to see the reality.

“After 3-0 at Old Trafford it’s easy to praise everyone but the most important thing is to be clever and assess the game and see what is going on with the team.

“It’s so important to be consistent and we need to improve a lot of things to be a real contender. A dream is a dream but it’s important to be realistic and improve to be a real contender.

“It’s only three games, of course it’s important to win, but we need to be consistent.”

Though fans were disappointed with the Red Devils loss, most weren’t as frustrated as they were during the 3-2 loss to Brighton.

Against Tottenham Mourinho’s men had shown a real attacking intent and desire to win but unfortunately it didn’t work out.

Against Brighton the 3-2 scoreline actually flattered Manchester United who didn’t deserve to get anything out of the game.

Nonetheless, Jose and his stars have the perfect opportunity to turn things around by getting a crucial win against Burnley later today as they attempt to quickly climb up the table.
