Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho believes he knows why the media constantly attack him and the club he represents.
The Portuguese manager has been torn to shreds by the press just a month into the Premier League season with him even being made favourite to lose his job first out of the rest of the clubs.
Mourinho managed to win the Europa League and League Cup in his first campaign in charge while his team were runners up in the Premier League and FA Cup last year.
There’s plenty of pressure on him to deliver the title this season as he’s already been written off just a handful of games in.
With the media still on his case it’s clear he doesn’t feel the need to repair the relationship just yet, taking yet another shot at them.
According to Sport Witness, Jose said to ESPN Brazil: “Maybe United’s story and my story [is why the media attack him and the club].
“United won a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot. And I also won a lot, a lot, a lot. Maybe people tire a little of it.”
Though Mourinho isn’t blameless for everything that’s gone wrong with United, it’s hard to ignore how he hasn’t been sufficiently backed by the board.
Fans knew ahead of the new campaign the squad would need serious investment to build on last season’s second placed finished yet hardly any came about.
Daley Blind left, Michael Carrick retired, back-up keeper Lee Grant was brought in, youngster Diogo Dalot signed and untested Fred captured as the club’s only business in a crucial summer.
