Jose Mourinho has sent his best wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson after his return to Old Trafford, insisting his good health was “fantastic news” to not just Manchester United but the entire football world.
The former Man United manager was admitted to intensive care Salford Royal Hospital in May after suffering a brain haemorrhage in his home.
Four months on, Ferguson is back to full health and was in attendance for Man United’s 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho stressed that the Gaffer’s return was a positive thing for football in general.

Sometimes I really hate the fact that Sir Alex is watching from the stands. I hate the idea that he has to watch football which comes nowhere near the level of energy – let alone results – achieved by his team for so many years. It almost feels like a kind of second hand embarrassment. I hate it. I just want Sir Alex to enjoy the football I enjoyed for so many years, and not United looking second best against promoted teams.
Against Wolves it would have been the perfect time for an effervescent, technicolour attacking performance, the camera focusing on the beaming Scot as another goal goes in, the sun out and everything well with the world.
But then again, as Mourinho once wisely said: “In reality there is no magic. Magic is fiction and football is real.”
