Jose Mourinho has insisted Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers was more disappointing than losing 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur last month.
The 55-year-old spoke positively about his players and their approach after the humbling at the hands of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, pointing out how the fans applauded their team off the pitch.
A dour, painfully predictable draw at home to Wolves, however, saw Mourinho criticise the attitude of his players in the aftermath.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho claimed that what he saw on Saturday was worse than losing by three goals to Spurs.

That defeat to Spurs was painful to watch but, on reflection, could be interpreted as a kind of noble and brave experiment from Mourinho and his team. They pressed hard, played with intensity, and created an array of chances. On another day, and with better temperament at the back, it may have been a different result.
Against Wolves, however, you got that gloomy sense of deja vu: United, once again, lacking any kind of attacking direction, just huffing and puffing and hoping a chance comes, without the slightest suggestion that their manager has worked on a way to break teams down in these situations. Over and over again, United have been unstuck in this type of game. And it doesn’t feel like that will change any time soon.
