Jose Mourinho has insisted that everybody in the world football will be delighted by Sir Alex Ferguson’s return to Old Trafford.
The former-Manchester United manager suffered a brain haemorrhage earlier this year and, following an operation, has been recovering since.
Ferguson, though, has had fantastic care and been fortunate to recuperate so quickly. It had been expected that he would not be able to come to a Man United game until the end of this year at the earliest. However, he was in the directors’ box on Saturday afternoon as Wolverhampton Wanderers held the Reds to a 1-1 draw.
Current boss Mourinho was formerly a rival of Fergie, but always one with great respect. He paid tribute to him after the match.
“Fantastic news for everybody,” Mourinho said.
“Not just for Manchester United family, I think for everybody. Who in the world of football, even in the world, is not happy with Sir Alex back in health? So great news for everybody.”
On a day when United’s football failed to excite greatly and the result was certainly underwhelming against a strong Wolves side, Ferguson smiling and waving to 74,000 adoring fans was a special sight, one that brought goosebumps to the skin.
