Barcelona see Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong, and not Paul Pogba, as their primary transfer target heading into the January window, according to reports from Spain.
The Frenchman was reportedly subject to a bid worth £45m plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina in August, which Manchester United rejected.
Pogba has caused a stir among supporters by publicly refusing to rule out the prospect of completing a move to Barcelona in the future.
But according to Spanish media outlet SPORT, Barcelona see De Jong as their next priority target in the middle instead of Pogba.
Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola could both push for a move to the Nou Camp and it may nonetheless not happen.
Man United will be passionately reluctant to let their star asset leave and Barcelona, never too far away from a finance-related saga, could be at risk of violating Financial Fair Play rules if they splash out for Pogba.
They have, after all, already signed young Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal. You could even say that moving for another midfielder, Pogba or not, is going over the top.
