Former Manchester United man Paul Ince has compared Jose Mourinho to Sir Alex Ferguson and admitted he’s concerned about the ongoing witch-hunt for the manager.
The Portuguese boss has come in for huge amounts of scrutiny having lost two of his three opening matches of the campaign so far.
Despite the underperformance, there appears to be a real target on Mourinho’s back with the media consistently criticising him of late.
The former Real Madrid manager was even targeted by the Daily Mail for looking ‘gloomy’ while scouting Burnley ahead of tomorrow’s clash.
Ince believes United are in danger of following in the footsteps of Chelsea or Manchester City in terms of getting rid of a manager the moment he under performs.
According to Goal, Paul said to Paddy Power: “I’m concerned about the witch-hunt for Jose Mourinho. United are in danger of becoming a team known for sacking managers after a couple of years.
“They’ve now gone through Van Gaal, Moyes and maybe Mourinho in quick succession.
“There’s an attitude of just getting rid of someone straight away if they aren’t winning every game – imagine that had been done to Sir Alex Ferguson in the beginning?”
There are even reports Jose could lose his job if his side are defeated tomorrow by Burnley- just four games into the new season.
The former Chelsea man should be given adequate time to turn things around even if he fails to get all three points.
On the other hand, fans are disappointed that even in his third season in charge, Mourinho is yet to look close to leading his players to a title win.
