Kalidou Koulibaly has extended his contract with Napoli until 2023, despite interest from Chelsea over the last Summer, according to Calcio Mercato.
The defender was linked with a move to England to reunite with manager Maurizio Sarri. However, no deal surfaced and now looks likely to stay in Naples.
Koulibaly has established himself as a top defender in Italy, and the renewal shows that Napoli wants to keep the defender at the club.
The Senegalese defender had been wanted by many top clubs around Europe, including Chelsea and Manchester United, who viewed Koulibaly as one of the top defenders on the continent.
However, despite losing top players such as Jorginho and their boss Maurizio Sarri, Napoli looked set to keep their prized asset for another 5 years.
Napoli had talked about a potential renewal with Koulibaly earlier this Summer, and now that deal is signed.
