Mason Mount will not be returning to Chelsea during the January transfer window, Frank Lampard has confirmed.
The former Chelsea midfielder and Derby boss was quizzed about the midfielder’s immediate future by BBC Derby Sport, amid suggestions that he could be on the move in January.
No he’s not going back [to Chelsea]. No, it’s great news, he’s been very good for us.
Mount is living up to his potential while on loan at Derby and his impressive form for his temporary club has been followed up by an equally impressive display for his country at U21 level.
The England youth international joined Derby on a season-long loan deal during the summer, linking up with Lampard and ex-Chelsea youth coach Jody Morris.
Mount has been one of the top performers in the Championship, scoring on his debut for the club against Reading, in a goal that saw him draw even more comparisons to his current boss.
