Reports suggest that Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is willing to keep star man Mesut Ozil out of the team in order to avoid a repeat of what happened with Neymar at PSG (via The Telegraph).
It’s clear that not everything is right with Mesut Ozil, both at international and at club level.
The German has been embroiled in international controversy for a couple of months and retired from the national team over the summer.
It was hoped that his international retirement would free up Ozil to focus solely on his club career and capture his true top form at Arsenal.
However, it’s fair to say that in the first few weeks of the Premier League season, that has not happened and the English press has given its explanation.
Ozil missed Saturday’s 3-1 win over West Ham with a believed illness but The Telegraph has claimed that there could be another reason behind it.
The reports suggest that head coach Unai Emery has been unhappy with Ozil’s performances and is willing to keep him out of the team even longer.
It is claimed that Emery is eager to avoid another “Neymar situation” which he encountered at Paris Saint-Germain.
“I know when I am the principal person in the group and when I am not. At PSG, the leader is Neymar,” Emery said after his departure from the French club.
It’s clear that Mesut Ozil is an influential figure at Arsenal and has been for a number of years. Unai Emery will seemingly manage Mesut Ozil in a different way to Arsene Wenger. We can only wait and see whether it will be a success or not.
