Alvaro Morata appears to have taken a surprising dig at former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte for his style of play.
Spanish outlet Sport reports that the striker believes he is more suited to Maurizio Sarri’s style because it offers more opportunities for the strikers to score.
The most important thing is the way we play now. Last season it was direct balls and for me to protect the ball in the air is not my strongest quality. Now I can attack the space, I can play one touch and go into the area for the crosses. It’s better for me. Sarri always works with the ball and when you always have the ball the strikers will have more chances.

The claims come as a surprise given Conte played such a key role in getting the player to Stamford Bridge.
It was Conte who signed the player for Juventus during his time there but never got the chance to work with him.
Under the Italian last season, Chelsea played a very direct and defensive style of play, something that was ultimately Conte’s undoing as the Blues went in search of more attractive football.
Their search for that led them to Sarri, who impressed so many last season at Napoli with ‘Sarri-Ball’.
