Young Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is reportedly set to move to League One side Scunthorpe United on a season-long loan.
Borthwick-Jackson has has experienced spells lower down the football league hierarchy over the past two seasons at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United.
Now he looks certain to be playing his football elsewhere for a third straight campaign and his destination looks to be League One, rather than the Championship this time around.
According to ESPN, Borthwick-Jackson will join Scunthorpe for the 2018-19 season in search for more valuable first team experience as he continues to try and win Jose Mourinho over.
The 21-year-old has risen through the ranks at Man United and rose to prominence under Louis van Gaal in the 2015-16 season where he made 14 first team appearances, including in the Champions League, after Luke Shaw‘s unfortunate leg break at the start of the campaign.
Mourinho has given him a chance since arriving as manager in 2016 though, and now Scunthorpe have seemingly won the race for his services amid interest from several clubs in the football league.
It’s unknown whether Borthwick-Jackson has a future at the club, but hopefully he impresses throughout the upcoming season in the third tier of English football before even thinking of his role at United.
