Arsenal have revealed which shirt number new signing Lucas Torreira will wear after completing his move from Sampdoria (via Arsenal.com).
It’s the news which Arsenal fans have been waiting to hear for several weeks but finally, it has been made official.
Lucas Torreira is an Arsenal player after completing his move from Sampdoria for a fee believed to be in the region of €30 million.
Now, it has been revealed that Torreira will wear the number 11 shirt at Arsenal, previously occupied by Mesut Özil who switched to 10.
“I feel very happy,” Torreira said after the announcement was made.
“I want to make the most of this opportunity life has given me. I am really looking forward to starting this new adventure.
“I feel calm. I am used to coping with this kind of thing in the best possible way. It’s a very positive thing that people want to welcome me. It makes me feel comfortable.
“Now I am calm and I look forward to the future, which for sure will be very nice.”
It’s great to see that Lucas Torreira has signed for the club. He is a player who impressed immensely for Uruguay during the World Cup and, hopefully, will bring that same performance level to the Emirates.
