Pictures: Man United’s pre season gets underway with return of Mourinho and Carrick

Jose Mourinho and Michael Carrick returned to Carrington on Tuesday morning to begin preparations for the 2018/19 campaign.

The squad flies out to the United States for their pre-season tour on Sunday, with their first game against Club America coming on July 20.

A litany of players will not be there due to World Cup commitments: Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Fred, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Ashley Young and Phil Jones won’t participate until the latter stages of pre-season.

Here are a selection of photos of Mourinho and Carrick, who joins the Portuguese’s coaching staff for the upcoming campaign, as they pull into Carrington to begin work on catching up with Manchester City.
