Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand did not hold back in his praise for Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s incredible performance vs Brazil.
The powerful striker was instrumental in his side’s 2-1 quarter-final win over the South American nation despite not getting on the scoresheet himself.
Belgium went through to the semi-finals thanks to a Fernandinho own goal as well as a bullet goal from Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.
The goals have dried up a little for Lukaku the past two games but he’s still in for a shout at the Golden Boot award as he scored four goals in his first two games.
Ferdinand was certainly admiring the former Everton man’s performance, even claiming it was almost unfair to play him due to how well he was doing.
Rio Ferdinand: “Lukaku seems to me, you know when you play in the school playground? He looks like he’s too big and strong for everyone. He shouldn’t be allowed to play.” #mufc [BBC]

What Rio meant was how older kids would dominate younger kids on the playground is the same way how Romelu was dominating the Brazilian defence.
The Belgian’s development over the past season has been incredible to watch as he’s gone from strength to strength right in front of fans’ eyes.
United supporters in particular will be keen to get Lukaku back at the club in one piece and raring to go ahead of an incredibly important season.
