Ajax are lining up a bid to bring Daley Blind back to Amsterdam after four years with Manchester United, according to reports from Holland.
The Dutchman joined Man United back in 2o14 and has proven to be a useful factotum in defence, featuring at central defence, left back and even in defensive midfield.
But Blind’s most recent season saw him lose the faith of Jose Mourinho, who only handed him three starts during the rest of the 2017/18 campaign after a poor defensive display against FC Basel in late November.
And according to Dutch media outlet De Telegraph, Blind has emerged as one of Ajax’s targets this summer after a season hallmarked by anonymity.
28-year-old started the season as part of his manager’s plans, starting in all three of United’s opening Premier League fixtures. But by the end supporters could be forgiven for forgetting he was a United player, such was his continued absence from the first team.
You get the feeling that Blind, along with Matteo Darmian, is destined to leave Old Trafford this summer. The only reason he hasn’t done so yet is because the club, with just over a month until the window shuts, still haven’t found a new first choice left-back.
