Stephan Lichsteiner has provided an update on his proposed move to Arsenal (via The Metro).
In recent weeks it has become clear that Juventus full-back Stephan Lichsteiner is a major target for Arsenal.
The 34-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the month and is free to talk to other teams over a potential move.
The Gunners are keen to add defensive reinforcement with no clear first-team right-back at the club besides Hector Bellerin.
We reported last week that Lichsteiner was close to a move to the Emirates and now, the player himself has revealed how talks progressing.
“Nothing is completed yet, no,” Lichsteiner told Swiss publication Blick when asked about a potential Arsenal move.
“I can’t say anything about the negotiations as long as nothing is concluded, that’s what’s always interesting in football.
“I think we all know that. Therefore, there’s nothing new to say.
“I don’t read it at all, I’m in Lugano — so in Switzerland. The rumours aren’t even reaching me, and it’s good this way.”
Stephan Lichsteiner is currently away with the Swiss national team but Arsenal will be hoping to get a deal wrapped up this week ahead of the beginning of the World Cup. He’s a vastly experienced player who would surely add a lot to the squad both on the pitch and behind the scenes.
