Dwight Yorke has urged Manchester United to sign Gareth Bale this summer and has described the Welshman as “the perfect addition.”
The Real Madrid forward sparked speculation regarding his future after netting a brace off the bench in the 3-1 Champions League Final win over Liverpool last month, stating that he would sit down with his agent over the close season to discuss his future.
Bale’s less prominent role under Zinedine Zidane throughout the 2017-18 season has seemingly made him want a new challenge away from the Santiago Bernabeu, but the French manager’s shock departure might have changed his stance.
Man United great Dwight Yorke has identified the 28-year-old as a priority ahead of the 2018-19 campaign though and suggests he is the perfect fit for an under-firing attack.
He told 888sport: “United and Jose don’t need to look at the World Cup. No player suits us more than Gareth Bale. Yes there will always be some exciting candidates to look at but Bale is someone who excites me.
“He is the right age, in his prime, and will be the perfect addition,” Yorke added.
Reports currently vary. Some outlets report that Jose Mourinho is keen to add a right winger to his squad to complete his front line consisting of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.
Meanwhile, others closer to home believe that Mourinho simply wants a back-up striker for Lukaku in terms of attacking reinforcements.
However, f United were to move for Bale this summer, his absence from the 2018 World Cup with Wales is likely to make potential negotiations much quicker than for those representing their countries.
