Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has claimed he’s staying at the club despite reports suggesting otherwise.
The Argentine recently extended his contract to 2022 but was still linked with a move away from Old Trafford due to his lack of match time.
Though he’s never truly expected to take over from first choice David de Gea, Romero typically gets minutes in cup competitions.
Unfortunately he suffered injuries this season and couldn’t feature for United other than for a handful of appearances.
Sergio’s an internationally capped goalkeeper who’s perhaps the best back-up to have in the world at the moment.
Romero: “I’m staying at Manchester United for now. Mourinho worked hard for my renewal until 2022. I can't leave him now. If United wants to sell me, if they have an offer that it's useful for the club, they will sell me. But I don't think that would happen.” #mufc [TyC Sports]

Joel Pereira is another goalkeeper tipped for big things with Jose Mourinho claiming he’s the best of his generation in Portugal.
The youngster’s potential emergence could mean that Romero is sold to make way for him in an attempt to challenge De Gea for the first team spot.
Pereira still has time on his side and although he admits to learning plenty from the two top goalkeepers aforementioned, he still needs minutes, minutes he won’t get if the Argentine remains.
With David being linked with Real Madrid once more this summer though it could be the Spaniard who leaves and not Sergio.
