Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has reportedly agreed terms to re-join the club as Maurizio Sarri’s assistant, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere della Sera, as cited on Sport Witness, say a deal between Napoli and Chelsea is close, with Zola set to return to London as part of the new look set-up.
Zola is said to have agreed terms and will join the club following the World Cup. He is currently with a South African TV channel as part of their coverage.
The former Italian forward has always been linked with a return to Chelsea in some capacity after a disappointing managerial career.
The two clubs remain in talks over a fee for Sarri, who has reportedly already agreed on terms to replace Antonio Conte this summer.
It is believed that Chelsea will pay between £4-£5 million for the manager’s services.
The report also claims that the Blues are still working on deals to sign both Raúl Albiol and Elseid Hysaj alongside Sarri this summer.
