Chelsea have reportedly submitted a €30 million bid to sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus this summer.
Calcio Mercato reports that deal could be a sign that Maurizio Sarri is closing in on his move to Chelsea.
Sarri is said to be a fan of Rugani, who has attracted the interest of Arsenal previously. The pair worked together at Empoli and he even tried to sign him for Napoli.
The report claims that a deal could be struck if Chelsea meet the €40 million asking price.
Chelsea could be in the market for defenders this summer, with concerns over the long-term futures of both Gary Cahill and David Luiz.
Luiz is reportedly ready to leave Chelsea, with both Arsenal and Napoli interested in signing the player.
Cahill endured a mixed end to the season and could fall into a more rotational role next season with Sarri set to bring in his own players if he is chosen to replace Antonio Conte this summer.
