Chelsea have reportedly taken a step closer to agreeing a deal with Luis Enrique after the former Barcelona boss lowered his initial financial demands.
The Blues are yet to decide on Antonio Conte’s future, with several managers being eyed as potential replacements, including Slavisa Jokanovic and Laurent Blanc.
Roman Abramovich has been trying to avoid terminating the Italian’s contract, with a hefty compensation package needed to do so. So, the Chelsea owner is reportedly hoping that Conte is appointed by another club, so this package can be heavily reduced.
But now, it has been reported by Yahoo Sport that Enrique would be willing to have a lesser role to play in terms of transfers if he were to be appointed at Stamford Bridge. However, his wage demands are still higher than other potential candidates, which could sway a decision away from him.
Enrique boasts a rather impressive CV, having won the Champions League during his spell at Barcelona, as well as securing back-to-back La Liga titles. He also was victorious for the Catalan giants in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2015.
