Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce wants Axel Tuanzebe to spend a second loan spell at Villa Park next season, according to reports.
The 20-year-old joined the Championship side over the January transfer window but continued injury problems reduced him to just five appearances in total.
He has flew up the ranks with distinction at Manchester United, performing solidly on his senior debut against Arsenal in May 2016 and playing under Jose Mourinho on seven other occasions.
Many supporters have called on Mourinho to give him minutes next season, but Villa, according to the Express and Star‘s Matt Maher, are keen on giving Tuanzebe another chance to impress in the Championship next season.
Tuanzebe is a player of enormous potential – somebody touted by supporters as a potential future captain. He did, after all, captain the Under 18s as a first year scholar. The last player to do that was Gary Neville.
And his performances in a United shirt have provided reason for excitement: composed and confident on the ball, physically imposing, defensively disciplined. The makings are certainly there.
One crucial drawback, however, is the youngster’s injury record. He has found himself, like so many promising footballers, consigned to the sidelines too often with knocks. Supporters will just hope he can get a genuine run of games under his belt next season. Whether that will be for United or another club remains to be seen.
