Jose Mourinho: This is what motivates me at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho explained how it was his ‘nature’ to believe that he would be successful in another field if not in football management and that he would always have the same drive in whatever profession he chose.

Mourinho takes Manchester United to Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening in search of a 26th trophy in his illustrious career and the third piece of silverware in just two seasons at Old Trafford.

It is, of course, the 2018 Emirates FA Cup Final where United will be going for a record-equalling 13th triumph, alongside Arsenal, and Mourinho has had a lot to say in the build-up.

The United manager spoke to the media ahead of the clash with his former club in the capital at Watford’s training ground, where the players and staff have been based for the past couple of days.

“It’s just my nature and I think if I was not a successful manager I would be a successful something, a successful PE teacher, I don’t know,” Mourinho said.

“I will always be someone with a drive with this nature and probably the colour of my hair doesn’t tell the truth, maybe people think I’m much older than I am.”

From parking the bus to not giving youth a chance to never smiling, journalism around Mourinho has never been as positive as it should be at times, but Mourinho says he will be around for longer than some would like.

He added: “Maybe because I arrived in high-level football very very young maybe people think I am 66 I am not I am 55 and even for the ones that don’t like me so much they are going to have me for many more years.”

Mourinho ended the 2016-17 season lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy in Stockholm, so he will be dreaming of concluding the last game of his second campaign in charge in similar fashion.
