Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United didn’t deserve to lose the FA Cup final to Chelsea, insisting his team played the best football.
Man United begun the game looking like a side without a clear plan and fell behind after Phil Jones, following some awful positioning and judgement, brought Eden Hazard down in the box, who duly converted.
The second half saw United – their tempo much better – dominate the game and press Chelsea into their own box, with Paul Pogba missing a free header, but they never really looked like finding a goal.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho was adamant that his team deserved to win the final after dominating possession.

In a game between Antonio Conte and Mourinho, the first goal was always likely to be the decisive blow.
And in this sense, while United did pick themselves up in the second period, they only have themselves to blame. Mourinho only has himself to blame. The ponderous, empty way in which they begun the game was criminal and allowed for Hazard, combining with Cesc Fabregas for a singular moment of quality, to land the crucial blow.
All Chelsea needed to do then was sit back with their back five and stay tight as United frustrated themselves, desperation slowly seeping in. Yes, United dominated the ball and initiative for most of the game, but never once did they look like doing any more than that.
