Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell Paul Pogba in the summer after losing patience with the French midfielder this season, according to reports.
The boss claimed he told the 24-year-old following his game-changing display against Manchester City that he wanted him to be more consistent.
But he couldn’t do that against West Bromwich Albion, producing a sloppy and lethargic midfield display, and was taken off after 56 minutes.
And according to the Mail‘s Chris Wheeler, the Portuguese is prepared to dispense with Pogba will be allowed to leave over the transfer window along with Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind.
Here we are again. Man United lose, Mourinho goes on a warpath (this time highlighting that Pogba, among others, overcomplicated his performance against West Brom), the media go to Town, and suddenly half the United squad – even its biggest talent – is off.
This would have been a ridiculous headline to put out last week, with the memories of Pogba’s display at the Ethiad still fresh in our minds, but following one defeat suddenly the whole narrative has apparently spun on its axis.
Football just doesn’t work like that; this slew of erroneous claims that half the squad wants to leave after every bad game is becoming a truly painful trend of United’s season.
