Chelsea’s players will not have to take a wage cut if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The Blues sit 8 points adrift of fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur with seven games to go, meaning they’ll probably miss out on the Champions League football next season.
However, the Daily Mail report that the players will not have to take a wage cut as a result. Many other clubs do have a system where if the club fails to get in the Champions League then players will earn less, however, Chelsea do not do this.
The majority of the squad will stay on the same pay, even if they have to settle for the Europa League next season.
Hazard would stay on £200,000 a week, although the club want to get him no a £300,000 a week deal with Real Madrid continuing their pursuit of the Belgian.
The midfielder will more than likely want to stay in the Champions League next season, meaning he could be tempted with a move to the Bernabeu.
